We stayed at Bear Mountain cabin. This cabin was wonderful , everything was updated and worked. The second night the air conditioning on the first floor stopped working, called A-1 and they had someone there within an hour and it was a Saturday also. My wife is a stickler when it comes to leaving a place the same way as when we arrived, even Hotel rooms. This morning while checking our bank statement we found we were charged and extra $100 for the cabin. After calling A-1 rental we found that the cleaning team said the cabin was TRASHED . We went are far as making the beds up, folding all towels and placing on bathroom floors. I believe this is a Scam from the CLEANING TEAM after read some of the post here, A-1rental just takes the word of the cleaning team without checking it out first. It's an easy $100 for them because there is no way to disprove it. Next time we rent a cabin ( not from A-1 ) we will make sure we have someone check the cabin before we depart. I must add that the manager referred to my family as a BUNCH OF DISCUSTING PIGS , that's a first for us after 23 years of active army service, your welcome A-1 for that tour I did in the Middle East so people like you still have the freedom in this great country to rip good people off. The owner of the cabin ran into my son the first day at the gate that wouldn't open and introduced herself as a owner of a cabin on the mountain she asked him what cabin we had rented he said Bear Mountain. That's one of my cabins, she was a very nice lady. My son lives in that area and is going to try and get her name so she can be informed about this scam. If I felt in anyway that we had left a mess of any kind I would just pay the measly $100 and let it go. But you don't refer to my family and I as PIGS ( wrong GI MAM )
The place was gorgeous and the staff was amazing. My husband and I went up for our anniversary and we stayed in a lovely cabin with a heart shaped tub. It was absolutely amazing.
I would give a ZERO star rating if allowed.
So, our yearly trip to Helen with our family was ruined.
Do not rent from this place. They took $1901 from us and we have yet to get it refunded. Paypal says there are insufficient funds. We rented a cabin and then after multiple attempts to contact after our cabin was removed from their website they informed us that our cabin was sold. They said they moved us to a comparable cabin but it was less bedrooms and $500 less than the one we paid. I guess Laura Fain was just going to pocket that money. Again, do not trust this website or the woman mentioned above. She will just block your number if you continue to call.
Very impressed with the staff and properties. They are attentive and caring. Properties are close to attractions. Definitely recommend staying.
Please do not risk ruining your vacation. Lauren charged us to stay in a home on the river that she didn't even have a contract to rent. We arrived and she sent us to a completely different unit without saying a word. I pulled up the pictures and they were nothing like the place we rented. She then claimed the other unit was double booked. Thanks to the people at Rent Helen we figured out that they held the rental contract. They graciously worked with us and we stayed in the unit as it wasn't booked. Lauren told me she would return my money but said she couldn't find my transaction through PayPal. After finding this page, I called PayPal and they opened a claim. Lauren was mad and said I wouldn't get my money until the last day of the claim. PayPal explained she could release it at anytime and advised me not to communicate with her. PayPal clearly sided with me. I'm not sure how she is still in business. I would give her zero stars but it only gave me the option for one star.
